I am putting this on my auditions page. Here’s a link to where all the videos of auditions are, by actors you may recognize: Hollywood Actor Prep : Actors Audition. I wanted to mention that I am adding this one, because it is so great an audition, in it’s auditioning. Yeah, in it Steve Carrell [...]
Video:–’50s show called ‘A Dark, Dark Hour’ with James Dean and Ronald Reagan starring together (as James Dean dances to jazz as ‘Hep Cat Killer’.) Text about Reagan and how this show prepped him for Presidency. Also about why so many great actors got their start on these ‘Golden Age’ Anthology shows doing live theatre.
Actors Never Know W-H-A-T Is Going On Inside Their Producer’s Head (Offices)Even actors and actresses who are series regulars, who get star-billing-single-card…
Just somewhat…I’m paring down the time I put into Hollywood Actor Prep… Now, I will be additionally working on: My own creative projects A different project (beside Hollywood Actor Prep) that is also for the benefit of actors, but with a more direct effect, with specific results. I love this blog for actors about acting, [...]
Results of today’s Screen Actors Guild announcement, the SAG-AFTRA merger vote. Also, 2 reactive commentaries by Dana Kaminski.
The SAG And AFTRA Merger Vote, General + Simplified, PART 2 In that last post, I wrote ‘Part 2, A’ in the proposal by Vote-Yes-on-SAG-AFTRA side, alleged that merging the 2 acting unions together might create a more powerful single union; and that one actor union would then become a powerful force unlike the inferred [...]
SAG-AFTRA merger bottom line: What are the general, basic issues? What is the core debate about, between SAG and AFTRA’s union members, about this merger of the professional acting guilds. What do actors really need to know, who are the sides?
Rejection is to be expected, for any professional actor, for any professional creative type. HANDLING REJECTION in a healthy way, takes work. But it’s an absolute essential, for acting career success…Some thoughts on healthy handling of rejection…
Amongst the advice that actress Amy Poehler included in her 15 min. biting, funny, and wise speech, to the graduating Harvard class, (besides the semi-joking, ‘Don’t think you’re better…) -VIDEO
For Actors And Other Creative/Artistics:
The Optional Time Categories Are The Imperative Time Chunks.
We need to add them in, in order to actualize artistic RESULTS.
Yesterday, I wrote about Natalie Mendoza, Broadway Spider-man’s lead actress, before the big news broke everywhere else today. I just KNEW. This actress just got the biggest break of her life, maybe her career… and SHE WASN’T ONSTAGE, ACTING…
Natalie Mendoza wasn’t appearing in Spiderman on Broadway because she physically could not.
I went on the Twitter page of the Spider-man actress who, injured by a concussion in early previews of the show, is not performing at present, on Broadway. I read what was in her tweets… And my heart broke for this Broadway actress.
Professional actors are responsible, throughout their acting career… about safety decisions. Under pressure. This story is about a Broadway actress in Spiderman, who, once injured, was not…
Most Actors And Actresses Hate When Their Dialogue Contains Exposition. It’s like: Am I talking or am I simply explaining the movie for the audience?? Why actors and actresses don’t like it, from an tech acting standpoint, is because exposition can be challenging to make real. Often, when actors are speaking some bit of dialogue [...]
Elizabeth Taylor acted in 50 films. She was a great beauty, a great actress, an iconic movie star, and a great humanitarian. Movie clips of films where she gives some of her finest acting performances.
The Independent Spirit Awards honor independent film and those artists (actors included) who make independent films.
(Can I yell a loud”YEAH!) (James Franco won best actor, photo)
I have touted the Independent Spirits and even more fanatically, their filmmaker support and development organization called FILM Independent, because they have a program that is un-matched…
I Can Never Get Enough Of These Videos, When Actors Reveal How They Got To Play The Roles That I’ve Already Seen…They Share Their Process For This Year’s Oscar® Nominated Acting Performances. I love discussing acting preparation, anytime…anywhere…with anyone who has an acting process. By acting prep, I mean all that an actor chooses to [...]
Artistic, experienced actors know there’s a major difference between acting from the head; versus acting from the heart, soul, instinct, acting-instrument. Only after quite a bit of experience, do actors know that the latter is acting at a higher level. It takes some acting experience to know that emotional, ‘real’ acting cannot be [...]
‘Zeitgeist (German pronunciation: [ˈtsaɪtɡaɪst] is “the spirit of the times” or “the spirit of the age.” Zeitgeist is the general cultural, intellectual, ethical, spiritual, and/or political climate…’
Actors: It takes a certain amount of intelligence to be able to analyze a script. It also takes an actor who already knows things, to be able to recognize what any script’s theme [underlying message] might be. In auditions…help you ‘get’ what a script is really all about…
Recording of the real King George VI announcing war, 1939. It’s the same speech that Colin Firth delivers in THE KING’S SPEECH climax. There’s other footage of the real King, his speech difficulty plain. Much more: Actor Geoffrey Rush on their+rehearsal, the actors’ acting collusion on the material. Stammerers Of Britain with very valuable information, and some film scenes with the 2 Actors…and the trailer. –*Phew*

Actors share more agent stories with me, than about any other topic.
Actors who I have never met (never even saw a headshot) have emailed me and told me stories like that. And worse. Much.
There’s a big ‘Number 3′.
IT IS THE ACTOR-AGENT RULE…Always true, transparently, between professional actors and the agents that represent them…
When you are working, in acting, you have representation. A talent agent not only negotiates an actor’s salary after they book an acting role; but before that, the agent makes appointments with casting directors for you to audition…for roles that they feel are right for you. That’s where a lot of professional problems, for actors, begin.
Octavia Spencer on inspiring the character of Minny in THE HELP — Soundcloud From Melissa Silverstein, Women And Hollywood: Octavia Spencer has the breakout role of her lifetime as Minny Jackson in The Help…Spencer was so real and honest… Women and Hollywood: You were known as more of a comedic actress so I’m wondering [...]
Backstage at the Academy Awards®, when talking about acting, and how he feels about being recognized for his acting work in THE FIGHTER…Christian Bale expressed gratitude and humility, openly, easily. He also spoke of other actors who may not have the same opportunity to show how talented…
Who is this he? This first ‘foreign’ actor cast to play Superman in a movie?
Superman–Henry Cavill is a British actor who was cast as the lead role in major films that never got made. Worse, he spent years being an almost-cast lead actor in other major movie franchises; only to have the part go to another actor, in the final part of the casting process…(Talkin’ years here, actors.)
BUT, when you are in an acting career position such as Garfield is currently…playing leads and supporting leads in Oscar nominated films, smarter films, and simultaneously snapping up the newest Spider-man movie lead role(s)…

In this Hollywood Actor Prep video, Armie Hammer talks about one of the acting problems that needed overcoming, (and made particular character choices) so that the portrayal was as dimensional people, of the Vinkelvoss twins. What specific acting prep went into the characters he played in The Social Network.
Most actors spend most of their career, on the wrong path, that will never lead them into The Industry. Won’t help them get toward an acting career, even though they think it will.
I am talking about actors who get good training somewhere, maybe even college or grad school, or may even have a good coach!
Still they don’t have a clue about what it specifically takes, to become a professional actor.
And there is no other teacher or website that can teach all this, specifically this. Nope.
And I don’t know if I will want to do this again…
Sign up sheet for those actors interested in Dana Kaminski’s Streaming Workshop. Why??— I will be sharing real insider experiential information and MUST-DO’s, about Professional Acting. And that is nowhere else…to be found.
The public thinks one-of-two-things about what acting professionals earn:
1. Actors make millions. Actors are rich…20 mill, per movie. **OR**2. You’d have to be a nut to choose acting as a career. Ever hear: ‘starving actor’? I shot a video with Frances Fisher (Oscar Nominated Actress: Unforgiven) on the actor salary myth. (SAG Actor Rally at CBS Studios, Los Angeles, on March 18.) Watch the video in this Hollywood Actor Prep Blog post…
