Bio : TV : Films

My name is Dana Kaminski.   This site is an absolutely authentic site, for actors.

You can watch some of my  film and television work (authentic); or you can read on to find out more about my intention for this blog, and my real experience as a professional actress.

Not too too long ago,  I had a very successful career as an actor, for a very nice period of time. (…okay, actress, if you prefer the gender-typed version) I worked in New York, then I moved to California, and worked in the acting business, at the highest levels, in L.A.

After about ten years, I walked away.

What I think is important,  is that I know a lot about what it’s like to be an acting professional.  I really know about how people do make their way into a career that can appear impenetrable. With integrity. The actual, real deal.

It may be that having once been all the way inside, and then stepping back out and folding back into the world outside, gave me a perspective.  One that, perhaps; those who are living their lives inside one, or the other, are not able to see as well. I still live in “Hollywood”, and I still am surrounded by those who are still in the business. I even have some friends who are new to it.  All encounter the difficulties, no matter what level they are.  Yes, even those at the very, very top; have certain struggles in this business.  (It may not appear that way, but it’s true.)

Much of the difficulty has never been secret. Acting may be the only profession that has no standard way to get started. It’s been notoriously difficult, since “Hollywood” began.

From the outside, and even from inside of “the business”, there doesn’t seem to be any type of rhyme or reason; but, I think there is .  I know there is, actually; I did it, and so did many of my friends. They succeeded, and continue to be successes.

So, about “breaking in”… there really is a way. More than one, actually.  Quite a few.

Here, on this blog, I’ll post as much as possible, to assist anyone who is interested in an acting career.

I also know that they don’t teach any of this in acting class.  There, you learn how to refine your ability to act.  Which, by the way, is very important to be able to do, and, to do extremely well. You’ll need that, but then, you can’t just go to Hollywood with it.  (…when Hollywood is pretty much a mythical place anyway…) You will need a lot more than just that, plenty more.

Acting technique is imperative, yes; you must have professional level acting chops. So do get started on that right away, and be serious about it, where ever you are.

But, that by itself:  doesn’t get you into any office, audition, or studio.  Talent and performance skill, alone, will not create an acting career, not even a profession.

Here, I intend to show you how to work. No promises, of course, but I really know my stuff, and there is much that to share to you.   (I used to be an acting coach– so it’s all been tried out and authenticated, many times, with others.)

I love acting, and I love to support those that have the passion for it.  I have a great “past” in this business, and, I might fill you in by also sharing some good stories as we go along!

But mainly, my priority is to get the good stuff online.  Bust away some of the mystery and falsehoods, clear up some myths;  reveal what is actually easy, and, that which is sincerely tough.  Nuts-and-bolts-stuff. How you can get through it–then,  to “IT”.   Survive–and thrive.

I also think that, possibly, all together,  we may make some bigger changes along the way.  Maybe make it easier, somehow, for talented people to be successful;  for their talents. In this very business: the acting profession… What a concept, huh?

If you wish to check my credibility, you  can google me or go on imdb to view (incomplete!) lists of my credits.

You can also watch some of my other work on you tube at

www.youtube.com/danakaminski

and soon I may put up some more of my work. [* Later adding: Wrote that a few months ago. Don't know what I was thinking. Have boxes of VHS tapes of my work. Realistically, they won't see a DVD-day, anytime soon.]

My main intention with this site, is to contribute.   I don’t know why getting an acting career is, almost always, so hard.  I don’t know why it isn’t easier for someone with talent and passion for the craft to be able to show it well, and work because of it.

What I can do is help those that have a sincere and serious love for the art of acting, and an overriding desire to make a career out of that.  I can try to give them the information to open the door and get inside. To then be able to do that, which they, so greatly, want a chance to do.

I also know that it isn’t elsewhere on the ‘net.  At least, not in the searches I did.  What came up was a whole lot of “hoax”.  I actually find that upsetting.  Which is another reason why I am doing a site.  This is the real deal. (I found two sites that claimed to be out of  ”Hollywood”, yet they clearly were in different states…And that’s just an example of the online bull…There’s no scam, no spam here.)

I hope that you can get something out of this blog, everytime you visit.  Most of all, I hope that whatever your dream is, that you go out to get it, and that it tastes very sweet when you do…

Best wishes,

:Dana Kaminski

“In this business, you are only as good as your last job.”

This is an epic sentence of Dana Kaminski for all the movie stars I think.
