I don’t know about you, but I like to change things, and introduce some new stuff, to increase My interest about this blog. I’m thinking this new thing(s) may do the same for you.
About the Emmys…
[I'm guessing that you already know, by now, who won the awards at the 2010 Emmys... If I can get the mold out of my brain, I may even attend the Emmys 2011. We'll see.]
See You In September!
Best,
Dana
Wish you a wonderful summer! Really, truly, do! :)
It’s Summer, And We Haven’t Had Summer Weather In Los Angeles.
Not yet,and it’s mid-August.
Yeah, it’s making me feel cheated.
I usually like to take this time and head to the beach, let it all go. Boogie-board til the toxicity overrides my desire, or an occasional riptide.
This Weather Is Not Conducive To A Break At The Beach.
Each Blog Post Takes Work.
My crabbiness is extending into every area of my life, today.
Including Hollywood Actor Prep. Sorry.
I am feeling that I am really wanting something back from all this. It’s been a few years, and it’s a lot of time to volunteer.
Why Might These Videos Have Value For Actors?
1. One of the most valuable things to do is to laugh. That’s my opinion.
2. It’s also a gift to be able to make people laugh. Funny Or Die has contributions some of the funniest actors and comedians.
2. Original Web Material.
(That doesn’t look amateurish. Which is the biggest problem with too much original content, around the web. That’s a big hint…You’ll hear it again soon from other sites, and self-set-up ‘advisors’ to actors.. It’s that important.)

But you don’t have to worry about the validity of the casting directors widget, which I embed in the very next post. Yes, I see that a few of them do have products that they sell to actors, as of this year; that’s kind of a new thing. But at least, if their intent is to market their product, they are giving you some truly experiential expertise to get you to dish out the dough for whatever they are selling. They aren’t making up the advice out of thin air.

See you all in September!
This doesn’t mean I won’t be posting Emmy winners, or other stuff should I get the urge.
But it does mean I am going to try to shut down my motors, a little.
Here’s a fun, vintage summertime song playlist I put together for you. For in the meantime.

"So many great painters, great musicians, great geniuses ended with nothing. With broken hearts in rooms ... I want to see artists sitting at the table that decide the outcome of their lives." --Bono
But then you remember and come back anyway.
That’s the amazing part.
You come back the next day because even when the words don’t come and the costume’s cutting off the blood to your legs, this activity connects you to your most authentic and naked self..
Until the editing is finished and I can post it, I wonder if I can share the questions that I’ve been pondering since. I wonder if any of you all ever think about the role of truth in your artistry. How much does the daily freedom of emotional expression in your daily life, and socially…affect it’s accessibility, facility, in your acting work
In this video, these Oscar Actors touch on certain acting career experiences, that every actor feels; but aren’t often shared:
Experiencing the excitement of the first time on stage
Realizing the calling…
I know that pressure. I know what Carey Mulligan is talking about, when she defines it. When an actor has only two days of work, one day of work, even a week of work; if it’s a small fraction of time of the entire shoot, as an suppoting actor, you feel that extra pressure. You only have a certain amount of time, and it’s ticking, fast…
An actor in the audience asks Mickey Rourke how he moderates sensitivity and vulnerability, for professional acting. In the 2nd video, they talk about the best audition ever at the Actors Studio.
I saw a video where Brad Pitt said that his early acting heroes were Mickey Rourke, and Sean Penn…(I put it on my site called “Hollywood Oscar Prep”– http://oscarprep.com.) They are both: Method Actors & nominated for a “Best Actor” Oscar this year, 2009. Watch how Mickey talks about his own early days as an actor, and training…

One of the things that they have developed is a way to get actors ready for award show season. They have specific exercises for posture, and teach how to stand when on the red carpet. I went and filmed them talking about it.
Act like a professional, in your regard and in respect to your career, with respect to your highest self. Learn to act like a professional actor. That’s why it’s called that. And when you are ready to put something out for the public, and for your future employers to see, make sure it is only at the level that your future employers will want to employ you from…and employ you over all the other actors. Skilled professional actors.
When you are working, in acting, you have representation. A talent agent not only negotiates an actor’s salary after they book an acting role; but before that, the agent makes appointments with casting directors for you to audition…for roles that they feel are right for you. That’s where a lot of professional problems, for actors, begin.

What stood out, while watching the film Breathless, was how little time has affected Belmondo’s power of coolness in this movie. Filmed in 1959, his clothes are from that time (and they were, actually, his own clothes), yet nothing looks dated…Not French actor Jean-Paul Belmondo in Breathless… even after decades.

Most actors spend most of their career, on the wrong path, that will never lead them into The Industry. Won’t help them get toward an acting career, even though they think it will.
I am talking about actors who get good training somewhere, maybe even college or grad school, or may even have a good coach!
Still they don’t have a clue about what it specifically takes, to become a professional actor.
And there is no other teacher or website that can teach all this, specifically this. Nope.
And I don’t know if I will want to do this again…
Sign up sheet for those actors interested in Dana Kaminski’s Streaming Workshop. Why??— I will be sharing real insider experiential information and MUST-DO’s, about Professional Acting. And that is nowhere else…to be found.
The public thinks one-of-two-things about what acting professionals earn:
1. Actors make millions. Actors are rich…20 mill, per movie. **OR**2. You’d have to be a nut to choose acting as a career. Ever hear: ‘starving actor’? I shot a video with Frances Fisher (Oscar Nominated Actress: Unforgiven) on the actor salary myth. (SAG Actor Rally at CBS Studios, Los Angeles, on March 18.) Watch the video in this Hollywood Actor Prep Blog post…
Actor (and very recent Emmy winner) Ken Howard has won the votes of the professional actors of the Screen Actors Guild today. He defeated three other actor candidates: Anne-Marie Johnson, Seymour Cassel, Asmar Muhammed. A little over a quarter of all the actor members of the guild, who were sent ballots due to good standing, [...]
