Colin Firth received his star on Hollywood Boulevard yesterday… Located in front of legendary musician hangout, the Cat ‘n Fiddle; and situated on the sidewalk next to a star honoring another British actor, Emma Thompson.
As if Firth wasn’t favorable enough for his choice and finely played acting leads; for a combination of male strength and sensitivity that he brings to each character, individually; for his size, his looks (imperfectly resulting in a real-time appeal) …and then, of course, there’s that whole indescribably aromatic Brit thing…
So what’d he go and do? He pulled out some surprisingly old school, romantic chivalry.
Well, it’s almost too much. (But it’s not… not at all. It’s damn dreamy, ah-csh-wal-leh.)
Colin Firth dedicated his star to his wife Livia Guiggiolli.
“I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine Livia who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and … When I look down there at that star, it’s her name I see.”

And about his star’s proximity to Emma Thompson’s?
“Actually that’s almost as good as the thing itself… I have a feeling I’m going to be here when I’m about 93 under a pile of blankets asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I’m the guy whose name is on the sidewalk – failing to recognize that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson.”
Best,
Dana
