Mr Soderbergh said about Mr Damon " you never catch him acting". Mr Freeman says about Mr Damon " there's no strain in his work". Mr Damon replies " It's not what I do" in reference to understatement of acting styles that get rewarded. After reading this article I see that Mr Damon's willingness to remain a perpetual student (despite earned stardom)makes him a hot commodity for industry professionals wanting to cast him. He conveys that he trusts in his use of choices and motivations. He studies the characters so well that the genuineness just flows in his use of emotional expressiveness. It seems that through his deep study ( all the subtleties to be conveyed in the film, not just his role) allows him to truthfully convey the context of the film to flow and in this draws the audiences in to feel the moments in his scenes. I enjoy learning about character acting..thank you for sharing Dana.

YES! Maria! You did identify 3 acting terms that are open to discussion--I think I will do a forum this weekend about it, so stay tuned.

I am going to go back to the article and count how many I see altogether, but I know there are more that rang my chime.

Please retweet, and continue spreading the word about Hollywood Actor Prep. I thank you for doing that already!

Okay, these were the phrases that really jumped out at me:
“As an actor you have to make decisions about what their motivations are,”
“It’s the way he frames his physical choices as an actor [...]it’s about finding in what he does an impulsion to move. "
“He’s interested in the totality of the film,” Mr. Soderbergh said, adding that this was not necessarily a common perspective for an actor.
